Yokota Striders is a family oriented running club located on Yokota Air base. Our mission is to spread our joy of running to the Yokota community and to introduce our members to the joy of running in Japan. Our members range from walkers to runners looking to improve their PT test to ultra-marathoners and everywhere in between.
The club hosts two races open to the Japanese residents each year as well as a few themed base 5k runs.
In June the Striders put on an American take on the Japanese Ekiden. An Ekiden is a Japanese long distance relay that consists of teams of runners covering a certain distance. The Yokota Ekiden is 20k in distance made up of 4 runners each running a 5k. The Ekiden also has a 5k open road race, 2k run and 2k family run.
This year's Ekiden will be on Sunday June 4th 2017
